If you are interested in any of the following ministries, please contact the parish office and you will be directed to the appropriate person. Please be aware the scheduling of these ministries is often prepared ahead of time.
Altar Servers
This ministry provides members of the parish with a true opportunity to function as lay ministers by reverently assisting the celebrant and/or deacon during Sunday Mass and at special liturgies throughout the year.
Lectors
Lectors proclaim the Word of God clearly and understandably so that all who hear may respond. The weekday scripture reading and psalm, and weekend scripture readings (with prayers of the faithful if deacon is not present) are provided on the ambo.
Daily readings can be found at https://bible.usccb.org/daily-bible-reading
Musicians
The Ministry of Music provides music during weekend Masses, holy days, weddings, funerals and Reconciliation services. Anyone is invited to join the choir at St. Mary's by contacting Sarah Towler in the choir loft before or after the Sunday morning Mass. You can also contact Sarah by emailing her at [email protected]
At St. Patrick's, contact Rebecca MacDougall at [email protected] if interested in singing or playing an instrument.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion serve by bringing communion to parishioners who reside in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or in their own homes and unable to get to church. They also may assist the priest in distributing the Eucharist at Mass.
Ministers of Hospitality
The Ministers of Hospitality, including the Ushers, are the first face of the parish. They greet those coming into our church, offer assistance to those in need, distribute parish bulletins, take up the collection, and distribute other materials as needed.
Sacristans
Sacristans prepare the necessary items for the celebration of Mass. They ensure that the necessary ministers and giftbearers (when needed) are present, and they return used Mass items to the sacristy for cleaning following the liturgy. Other duties may include maintaining the Sanctuary Lamp, replacing altar candles when necessary, and opening and securing the church.
