The Extraordinary Form Latin Mass has been part of our parish for over ten years. There are a few things that make this Mass different. Communion is received kneeling and on the tongue. The priest leads us as he offers the sacrifice of the Mass turned toward God. The music is traditional hymns along with chant. Serving with the priest are altar boys who follow very specific rubrics. Also, unsurprisingly, much of the Mass is in Latin. There is no need to know Latin to fully enjoy the Mass. There are red books available at the back of the church with a Latin to English translation. You'll hear all the readings in English, and the homily, of course. Sometimes, the best approach is to just absorb and offer your prayers in the beauty and quiet of the traditional Latin Mass.
The Extraordinary Form is offered every Sunday at 9:30 AM at Saint Mary's in Potsdam
