The Newman Club, named after John Henry Cardinal Newman, is a worldwide Catholic student organization based off the writings of Cardinal Newman which encouraged an established group for young Catholic students attending secular universities. The first Newman Club was founded in 1888 at Oxford University in England.
Since then, Newman Clubs, Centers, Houses and Communities have spread to most secular universities, allowing Catholic students to still engage with their Faith in an increasingly secular world. It provides for students places of common fellowship and worship in an authenticly Catholic environment while also serving students in ministerial and pastoral capacities.
The local Newman Clubs are both at Clarkson University and SUNY Potsdam and function as one group in most instances. If you would like more information on the local Newman Clubs or to talk to the Campus Minister, please call the office at:
